Camara de Lobos is a small fishing village close to Funchal in Madeira Island, Portugal.

Most tourists who stop by, see only the famous bay full of colorful boats. If you take a short walk to this location in the park, you will discover also this spectacular view of Church of San Sebastian and the second highest sea cliff in the world at 580m.

Where is the best spot to photograph Church of San Sebastian?

The best place to photograph Church of San Sebastian, Madeira Island is from the observation point in Jardim do Ilheu park (Caminho do Ilheu)

You can to drive to the Church of San Sebastian by car and public transport is available as well. Some of the hop-on hop-off tours from Funchal also include stops at Camara de Lobos.

The Chapel of Saint Sebastian was built in 1426 by order of Infante D. Henrique……….the church was built in Baroque style, with three naves and an high altar in gilt woodcarvings. In the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament there are mosaics from the eighteenth century representing the Agnus Dei.
